DoT Activates Intra-Circle Roaming in Flood-Hit Areas
The Department of Telecommunications activated Intra-Circle Roaming in affected districts of Nagaland, Gujarat and the UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu amid heavy rainfall and flooding.
The Department of Telecommunications activated emergency Intra-Circle Roaming to maintain telecom connectivity in disaster-affected areas. The measure was applied in Longleng district of Nagaland and in Valsad, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman after rainfall, landslides, flash floods and network outages. ICR allows mobile users to access any available network when their own operator’s network is unavailable. The order was issued under SOP-2020 for telecom services in response to disasters and Unified Licence provisions. It is important for disaster communication, rescue work, emergency healthcare and public safety.
