Two Lakh Anganwadi Centres Approved for Upgradation

The government informed that two lakh Anganwadi Centres had been approved for upgradation as Saksham Anganwadis under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development informed Lok Sabha that two lakh Anganwadi Centres had been approved for upgradation as Saksham Anganwadis. The upgradation is part of Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, which covers children under six years, pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girls in specified areas. Saksham Anganwadis are equipped with facilities such as LED screens, water filtration systems, Poshan Vatika, ECCE material and Building as Learning Aid paintings. The scheme is monitored through the Poshan Tracker digital application. The ministry also noted that anaemia among children aged 6-59 months declined by 8.5 percentage points.
