SIPRI Yearbook 2026 Highlights India’s Defence Spending

SIPRI Yearbook 2026 reported that India was the world’s fifth-largest military spender in 2025 with defence expenditure of USD 92.1 billion.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) released its Yearbook 2026 covering global armaments, disarmament and military expenditure. India’s defence spending increased by 8.9% compared to the previous year. The report highlighted continued investments in military modernisation and indigenous defence production.
