Railways approves Bondamunda rail flyover project
Indian Railways approved a ₹135 crore rail flyover project at Bondamunda to ease congestion on the Rourkela-Bondamunda section. The 4.59 km flyover is expected to separate freight and passenger movement and raise corridor capacity.
The approved flyover will run from Bondamunda A Cabin to Bondamunda Link B Cabin in South Eastern Railway. According to the Ministry, the project is designed for a busy industrial corridor affected by rising freight movement linked to mining and steel activity. Separating freight and passenger traffic is expected to improve operational efficiency and enable additional freight movement annually. This is important for exam preparation under industrial infrastructure, railway capacity augmentation and logistics planning.
