Pregabalin Brought Under Schedule H1

The Union Health Ministry notified the inclusion of Pregabalin under Schedule H1 of the Drugs Rules, 1945 to prevent misuse.

The notification was issued through Gazette Notification G.S.R. 377(E) dated 13 May 2026 and published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary on 20 May 2026. The decision was highlighted by the Health Ministry on 22 May 2026. Schedule H1 regulation strengthens prescription monitoring, supply-chain accountability and control over easy access. The move is relevant for health regulation and drug control mechanisms.
