NITI Aayog releases global Ayurveda roadmap

NITI Aayog released the report Strategic Roadmap for Making Ayurveda Global on 2 July 2026. The report presents a phased strategy to expand Ayurveda’s global footprint and align it with policy, research, trade and soft-power objectives.

The report was launched by Vice Chairman Dr Ashok Kumar Lahiri in the presence of Member Prof. M. Srinivas and Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha. It assesses the global status of Ayurveda and proposes a structured roadmap for international expansion. NITI Aayog highlighted that wider globalisation of Ayurveda can generate economic value, create jobs, strengthen exports and reinforce India’s knowledge-based soft power. The report is important for understanding the policy direction of traditional medicine and wellness diplomacy.
