NFHS-6 Shows Gains in Health Indicators

The government shared NFHS-6 findings showing improvements in maternal and child health indicators along with concerns over rising obesity and blood sugar levels.

The government presented key findings from the latest National Family Health Survey, comparing NFHS-5 and NFHS-6. Institutional deliveries rose from 88.6 percent to 90.6 percent and ANC coverage increased from 92.6 percent to 95.9 percent. Full immunisation coverage among children aged 12-23 months improved from 83.8 percent to 87.1 percent. Stunting among children under five declined from 35.5 percent to 29.3 percent and severe wasting declined from 7.7 percent to 5.2 percent. NFHS-6 also recorded higher overweight or obesity levels among adults and rising high blood sugar levels.
