Nagpur to Host 20th Statistics Day Celebration

The National Statistical Office announced that Nagpur will host the 20th Statistics Day celebration on 29 June 2026. The theme for this year is 'Unlocking the Potential of Administrative Data'.

Statistics Day is observed to mark the birth anniversary of statistician P. C. Mahalanobis, whose work shaped India's statistical system and economic planning. The 2026 theme highlights the growing role of administrative data in evidence-based policymaking and governance. The Nagpur programme will include competitions, lectures and public awareness activities to promote statistical literacy among students and citizens. Such events are important because government examinations often ask about statistics institutions, themes, observance days and Mahalanobis-related facts.
