MoSPI Prepares Services Production Index

MoSPI issued FAQs on the proposed Index of Services Production, a new monthly macro indicator expected to be launched in July 2026.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation is preparing to launch the Index of Services Production in July 2026. The new index will measure short-term changes in the formal services sector. It will function as a services-sector counterpart to the Index of Industrial Production, which measures industrial growth. A Technical Advisory Committee on the compilation of ISP was constituted in May 2025 under Debjani Ghosh to assist in the methodological framework.
