MoSPI Celebrates 20th Statistics Day

MoSPI commemorated the 20th Statistics Day on 29 June 2026 to mark the birth anniversary of Prof. P.C. Mahalanobis and highlight the role of statistics in governance and planning.

The event was held at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. Statistics Day is observed annually in honour of Prof. Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, regarded as the architect of India’s modern statistical system. The observance is important for exam preparation because Mahalanobis, statistical institutions and official data systems are recurring factual topics in competitive exams.
