Kharif Crop Area Coverage Data Released

The Ministry of Agriculture released progress data on area coverage under Kharif crops as of 12 June 2026.

The data showed early-season sowing progress for major Kharif crops. Rice sowing reached 4.98 lakh hectares compared with 3.88 lakh hectares in 2025 during the corresponding period. Pulses coverage stood at 1.55 lakh hectares, lower than 2.73 lakh hectares in 2025. Such weekly sowing data is important for tracking monsoon-linked agricultural trends, food inflation risks and rural economy indicators.
