International Moon Day Observed Globally

International Moon Day was observed on 20 July to mark the Apollo 11 Moon landing. The 2026 observance marked the fifth International Moon Day and the 57th anniversary of the historic landing.

International Moon Day is observed every year on 20 July to commemorate the Apollo 11 Moon landing of 1969. The day promotes awareness of space exploration, lunar science and the peaceful use of outer space. The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed International Moon Day through a resolution adopted in December 2021. The first observance took place in 2022. The 2026 observance marked the fifth International Moon Day and the 57th anniversary of the first human landing on the Moon.
