Indian Railways posts June freight and passenger growth

Indian Railways reported 4 percent growth in freight loading and steady passenger growth for June 2026 over the corresponding month last year. The data showed continued expansion in both logistics support and passenger mobility.

Railways loaded 142.21 million tonnes of freight in June 2026 against 136.71 million tonnes a year earlier. Passenger traffic reached 63.81 crore compared with 62.37 crore in the corresponding month of the previous year. Freight earnings also rose, while coal supply to power plants increased by 7 percent during the month. The figures are useful for exams because they reflect transport infrastructure performance, logistics trends and demand in core sectors.
