India to host BRICS anti-drug agencies meeting in Guwahati

India announced that it will host the BRICS Heads of Anti-Drug Agencies Meeting in Guwahati on 6–7 July 2026. The meeting will focus on strengthening cooperation against synthetic drugs, darknet-enabled trafficking and cryptocurrency-linked narcotics networks.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said the Guwahati meeting will bring together heads of anti-drug agencies and senior officials from BRICS member countries. The discussion agenda includes new psychoactive substances, emerging trafficking routes, financial flows linked to narcotics trade and the use of advanced interdiction technologies. For exam preparation, this is important because it links India’s BRICS chairship with transnational security cooperation and anti-narcotics policy.
