India-Norway Relations Elevated to Green Strategic Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Norway resulted in India-Norway relations being elevated to a Green Strategic Partnership.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Norway from May 18 to 19, 2026, marking the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Norway in more than 40 years. During the visit, India and Norway elevated their relationship to a Green Strategic Partnership. Norway also agreed to join the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative, while both sides launched the India-Norway Digital Development Partnership. India and Norway signed 12 agreements covering sustainability, health, research, infrastructure and innovation. The visit also included the 3rd India-Nordic Summit in Oslo.
