India-Germany Strategic Partnership Reviewed at G7

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian.

The two leaders reviewed renewed momentum in the India-Germany Strategic Partnership. In 2026, India and Germany are marking 75 years of diplomatic relations. The leaders discussed cooperation in trade, investment, defence, security, green development, technology, innovation, education and mobility. They also welcomed the Defence Industrial Cooperation Roadmap and the operationalisation of transit visa waiver for Indian nationals transiting through Germany.
