India-EU Leaders Discuss FTA Implementation at G7

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.

The leaders reviewed progress in India-EU relations after the 16th India-EU Summit held in India in January 2026. They welcomed the recent conclusion of negotiations for the India-EU Free Trade Agreement and stressed its early signing and implementation. The meeting also discussed the Joint India-EU Comprehensive Strategic Agenda and regional developments including West Asia. The event is relevant for trade, supply-chain diversification and India’s strategic engagement with the European Union.
