India and Japan issue outcomes of 16th Annual Summit
India and Japan released the joint statement and official outcomes of the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit held during Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s visit to India. The visit reaffirmed the Special Strategic and Global Partnership and produced multiple cooperation outcomes across connectivity, technology, energy and business.
Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi paid her first official visit to India from 1 to 3 July 2026 for the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit. The two sides described their ties as a partnership of strategic convergence and trust for shared growth, prosperity and resilience. The list of outcomes included agreements and cooperation measures in areas such as artificial intelligence, energy resilience, industrial and business collaboration, and wider strategic coordination. The development is important for India’s Indo-Pacific policy, bilateral economic ties and technology cooperation with a key partner in Asia.
