IITM-ARIES MoU Signed for BCON Station

IITM and ARIES signed an MoU to establish a long-term Bharat Climate Observation Network monitoring station over the Himalayan region.

The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune, signed an MoU with Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences, Nainital, for a long-term monitoring station under the Bharat Climate Observation Network. The MoU was signed on 18 June 2026 and reported on 19 June 2026. The station will monitor meteorological parameters, greenhouse gases, short-lived climate forcers, atmospheric chemistry and soil moisture. The initiative supports Mission Mausam and strengthens climate research through long-term high-quality datasets.
