ICGS Akshay commissioned into Coast Guard fleet

ICGS Akshay, a new-generation Fast Patrol Vessel, was commissioned into the Bharatiya Tatrakshak fleet at Goa Shipyard Limited on 27 June 2026.

The commissioning marks another step in the modernisation of the Indian Coast Guard. Fast Patrol Vessels are important for coastal surveillance, anti-smuggling operations, search and rescue, and maritime law enforcement. Indigenous shipbuilding and fleet expansion remain central to India’s maritime security strategy.
