IAF Airlifts Sacred Buddhist Relics to Mongolia

The Indian Air Force transported sacred Buddhist relics to Mongolia using an IL-76 strategic airlift aircraft.

An Indian Air Force IL-76 strategic airlift aircraft, also known as Gajraj, transported the relics of Arahant Sariputta and Arahant Mahamoggallana from Delhi to Mongolia. The aircraft undertook an overnight mission and landed in Mongolia on 31 May 2026. The mission supported India’s cultural outreach and diplomatic engagement with a friendly country. It also highlights the role of the Air Force in strategic airlift, humanitarian support and diplomatic missions.
