Health Ministry holds zoonoses consultation under One Health approach

The Union Health Ministry organised a national multistakeholder consultation on the action plan for prevention and control of zoonoses. The consultation emphasised a One Health approach involving human, animal, wildlife and environmental sectors.

The meeting was organised on the occasion of World Zoonoses Day and brought together representatives from multiple sectors. Zoonotic diseases remain a critical public health concern because they can spread from animals to humans and may create large outbreaks. The One Health framework seeks coordinated surveillance, preparedness and response across sectors. This topic is highly relevant for public health governance, disease surveillance and disaster preparedness sections of exams.
