Goa Celebrates Statehood Day 2026
Goa observed its Statehood Day on 30 May, marking its formation as India’s 25th state in 1987.
Goa Statehood Day is observed every year on 30 May. Goa became a full-fledged state on 30 May 1987 after being separated from the Union Territory of Goa, Daman and Diu. The day is important for questions on Indian polity, state reorganisation and post-independence integration. Goa was liberated from Portuguese rule in 1961 and later became a separate state with Panaji as its capital.
