Environment Trade Measures Chintan Shivir Begins

The Commerce Department began a two-day Chintan Shivir in New Delhi on environment-related non-tariff measures and FTAs.

The Department of Commerce inaugurated a two-day National Workshop and Chintan Shivir at IIFT Bhawan in New Delhi. The theme was environment-related non-tariff measures, WTO rules and implications for Free Trade Agreements. The workshop brought together government officials, trade experts, WTO practitioners and industry representatives. It focused on sustainability-linked trade measures, carbon and deforestation-related rules and strategies to protect India’s export competitiveness. The topic is important as climate-linked trade barriers are becoming central to global commerce.
