DRI Seizes Precious Metals in Nationwide Operations

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized 15 kg smuggled gold, 20 kg silver and Rs 2.20 crore cash in nationwide operations.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence carried out intelligence-driven operations against precious metals smuggling across India. The agency seized 15 kg foreign-origin smuggled gold, 20 kg silver and Indian currency worth Rs 2.20 crore. The total value of the seized precious metals was reported at around Rs 22 crore. The operations led to the arrest of 13 persons and highlighted the continuing challenge of organised cross-border smuggling.
