DRI Seizes 60,000 Kg Areca Nuts

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized about 60,000 kg of smuggled foreign-origin areca nuts in the North-East region.

The DRI’s Guwahati Zonal Unit carried out two major operations in the North-East region. The seizure involved foreign-origin areca nuts and five persons were arrested. Such cases are important for understanding border management, customs enforcement and economic security. The event also has relevance for internal security questions linked to smuggling routes and enforcement agencies.
