DRI Seizes 17 kg Smuggled Foreign-Origin Gold

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized about 17 kg foreign-origin gold worth around Rs. 25 crore in coordinated operations in eastern and northeastern India.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence conducted coordinated operations in Kolkata and Agartala against organised gold smuggling networks. Around 17 kg of foreign-origin gold valued at approximately Rs. 25 crore was seized. Ten persons were arrested in connection with the case. The operation is relevant for exams because it relates to customs enforcement, economic offences, smuggling networks and revenue intelligence mechanisms.
