DRI Busts West Bengal Gold Smuggling Network
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence busted a cross-border gold smuggling racket in West Bengal and seized 24 kg foreign-origin gold worth Rs 34 crore.
The operation targeted an organized smuggling syndicate operating along the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal. DRI said seven persons were held in connection with the racket. Such seizures are relevant for questions on economic offences, border smuggling, customs enforcement and internal security linkages. They also highlight the role of DRI in protecting revenue and curbing illegal trade networks.
