DoT Activates Roaming in Disaster-Hit Areas

The Department of Telecommunications activated Intra-Circle Roaming in affected areas of Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and Nagaland after heavy rainfall, cloudburst and landslides.

The Department of Telecommunications activated Intra-Circle Roaming to maintain mobile connectivity in disaster-affected areas. The measure covered affected districts of Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and Nagaland where communication networks were disrupted by heavy rainfall, cloudburst and landslides. Intra-Circle Roaming allows subscribers to connect through any available network within the same telecom circle. This is important for disaster response, emergency communication and digital infrastructure governance.
