Digital India completes 11 years of transformation

A PIB backgrounder on 27 June 2026 marked 11 years of the Digital India programme and highlighted its role in expanding digital public infrastructure and public service delivery.

The backgrounder noted that Digital India has changed the way citizens connect, learn, transact and access government services. Over the years, India has built large-scale digital platforms across payments, education, healthcare, skilling, agriculture and welfare delivery. The programme is also seen as a key pillar of digital governance and inclusion, especially in rural and underserved areas. For competitive exams, it is important as a flagship initiative linked to Digital Public Infrastructure and e-governance.
