CG SEMI OSAT Facility Begins Production

The CG SEMI OSAT facility at Sanand, Gujarat was inaugurated on 4 July 2026, marking a major milestone in India’s semiconductor mission. Official statements said the facility would strengthen chip manufacturing, technological self-reliance and India’s position in the global value chain.

OSAT stands for Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test, a critical segment in the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. The Sanand facility is important because India is trying to build domestic capability across the electronics and chip supply chain under the Semicon India programme. Official remarks also indicated that more semiconductor plants are expected to become operational by the end of 2026.
