Centre Approves MSP Procurement Under PSS in Four States

The Centre approved large-scale procurement of pulses and oilseeds at Minimum Support Price under the Price Support Scheme in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved procurement of pulses and oilseeds under the Price Support Scheme through video conferencing. The decision covers Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and is aimed at protecting farmers from distress sales. Uttar Pradesh was highlighted as the largest beneficiary, with a procurement package worth over Rs 1,490 crore. The move is important because PSS is a key component of market intervention for pulses, oilseeds and copra under PM-AASHA.
