CCEA Approves Ballari-Guntakal Railway Multitracking Project

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the Ballari-Guntakal railway multitracking project at an estimated cost of Rs 1,264 crore.

The CCEA approved the 3rd and 4th line of the Ballari-Guntakal section in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The project will add about 46 km to the Indian Railways network and is planned under the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan. It will cover three districts and improve connectivity for about 99 villages with a population of nearly seven lakh. The project is expected to support freight movement of iron ore, dolomite, limestone, steel, coal, fertilizers and food grains. It is projected to add 16.22 MTPA freight capacity and reduce oil imports and carbon emissions.
