Cabinet Approves Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme

The Union Cabinet approved the Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS) to strengthen domestic manufacturing and enhance India's position in the global electronics supply chain.

The Union Cabinet approved the Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme on 15 July 2026. The scheme aims to expand domestic production capacity, increase value addition and promote exports of mobile phones and components. It is expected to attract fresh investments, generate employment and strengthen India's electronics manufacturing ecosystem under the Make in India initiative.
