Buddhist Relics Enshrined in Mongolia

Sacred relics of Lord Buddha’s chief disciples were ceremonially enshrined at Gandantegchenling Monastery in Mongolia.

The sacred relics of Arhat Sariputra and Arhat Mahamoggallana were enshrined at Gandantegchenling Monastery in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The event was held on the occasion of Buddha Purnima or Vesak Day 2026. It marked an important milestone in India-Mongolia cultural and spiritual relations. Such cultural diplomacy is relevant for India’s soft power, Buddhist heritage and neighbourhood-plus diplomatic outreach.
